God I can’t help but feel a little sad for Quetz. She’s basically lost as much as anyone else, but in a more sprititual sense. She doesn’t have a warm happy family like Kid does, and her carear, which I remember her mother and father driving her to get when she was very very young, is now dead.
And yet I have to ask… what kind of pet does she have?
Makes perfect sense to me…I think it’s fascinating to see what everybody is doing back on Earth. She reminds me of a highschool football star who can’t stop relieving her glory days.
I don’t really see her ‘reliving the glory days’ so much as ‘escaping the horrible present reality’. Of course reliving the glory days is itself a way of escaping reality, but to do that you would have to have had some glory days to relive. Hence why Quetzal is escaping into a wholly different fantasy, although I could see why one would conflate to two concepts since they are both forms of escapism.
I love when some people start giving known names to the Generic Fantasy Game that Quetz is playing. There are some gamer souls around.
Also, it seems she’s a little out of shape; Games, Banana Coke and hating yourself because of what you have been and are not anymore (or because of what you are now and how you evade it)… it is just a vicious cycle guys!
I’m merely guessing that games like WOW will never die. Although chances are in 2200 we will be bypassing crude human interface devices and directly project our very selves into the virtual environment of our choosing. A perception now fully obedient to the laws of information processing rather than those of Newton to emulate a truth easier to grasp than reality. Perhaps by then we will project ourselves into the world of Angels 2200 – a not entirely unrealistic concept.

I wholeheartedly agree with Kugai and Woot’s statements, and would like to add that Bowen’s aversion to banana flavoured Coke brings tears to my eyes.
