Ok, so it wasn’t tommorrow…

March 10th, 2009

But better late than never, right?

So, this part of Angels2200 is wrapped up. A lot has changed in my life since its beginnings in 2002, some of major events being my wedding and the birth of my baby daughter, both of which changed my status from ‘slacker webcomic artist’ to ‘responsible husband and father’. Sometimes its been incredibly rewarding, sometimes its felt like a burden, but ‘Angels’ has for the most part been an incredibly rewarding experience.

I’ve met some really wonderful and creative people through the comic, and even some long lost family members. It’s been responsible for vastly improving my artwork (which was my original reason for starting) and has even provided me with work thanks to contacts made from the Angels based short film ‘Mitsabi’s Dream’. And I can’t forget the purely personal satisfaction of completing such a long form piece of work.

Yes, the comic slowed down horribly towards the end, and I apologise to those who have waited through weeks without update. Rest assured, every week that went without an update added to my guilt. But I would have felt far more guilty rushing out product, or a comic that was substandard due to fatigue. I’m grateful to those who stuck with us until the end, and I hope you’ll continue to stick with as it continues.

Now heres the bit some of you may not be happy with…Angels 2.0 will begin on Friday January 1st, 2010.

Yes, that seems a long way off, but the reasons are many, the largest being I want to build up a backlog so as to avoid the issues that plagued the recent comics. Also, I want to take the pressure off myself a little, so as to improve the overall product, and really enjoy making the comic again. And to a degree, its working. I’ve already written over 11 strips of the new series, answering very early on some of the most pressing questions including ‘what is the Forseti document?’ and ‘How did Carelli survive?’. It’s feeling good, and flowing well.

I’m trying to think of it as a season break of sorts, time to recharge and even rediscover the strip. Once again, I can only hope that most of you will join us for the relaunch. Wether you stay or move onto other comics, thank you for reading.

Please stay in touch, either here, or though email at hansagan@gmail.com …I’d love to hear from you.

Until the New Year…

Granted, some of us might give you crap about being late. We’re also still around to give you crap about it, so we must like what you’re doing. Though I would like to suggest an rss feed so that we don’t have to come here when there isn’t some new piece of news or a new strip(granted, that’ll be a bit).

I do agree on the rss feed.

Wich you much fun for this time-off …

Knowing is better than living without knowledge of what is happening.

I wish you the best on your break!

Enjoy your break! I’ll be waiting with baited breath until January 1st!!

Enjoy the downtime mate, really looking forward to next season! ;-)

Although with you and BSG finishing up about now, I don’t know where I’ll get my sci-fi fix for the rest of the year!

I also agree with an RSS feed. Or even a mailing list so you can let us know when it starts up again. I started reading this comic in college, and so much has happened since then, I feel like I kinda “grew up” with it. Enjoy your break!

Heeray! Looking forward to a long streak of regular updates starting next Jan. Thanks for the years of great storytelling!

I’ll definitely be here when it starts back up. As for the whole ‘timely delivery’ issue, I understand that it is important, however nobody has any basis to give you crap. We’re here viewing your art FOR FREE. If I was paying for a service, that would be something else. But since I’m not, I say create at a pace that allows you to enjoy what you’re doing, and don’t worry about people who aren’t positive.

You’ve got something good going here, do whatever you have to to enjoy it. Myself, I have loved every frame, and thank you very much for it.

I’ve been a silently lurking reader ever since junior year of high school (I’m a sophomore at Uni now), and I’m here to tell you I’ll definitely be around when you start the comic back up again. Thanks for all the work you’ve put into this webcomic all this time– I want you to know I’ve really enjoyed it over the years.

I’m sad that you stopped but at least you told everyone unlike many a web comic artist, know the question is between here and 2010 will you actually continue or just never come back like a certain ghost2000 comic….

I pretty much came to this site via TV tropes and tore through the archives in one go. I’ve bookmarked this page and the main one, and I wait with baited breath for 2010!
